As local travel experts, we know what travelers are looking for when it comes to finding the perfect accommodations for their next trip. From bed and breakfasts to yurts to camping, there are lots of ways to spend the night in Maine. And, if you ask us, they’re all great. But we’re partial to the places that have both history and uniqueness. If you love that too, we’ve got just the place for you. Built in 1909 and located right on the water this is a must-visit. And while they’ve got a lodge, cottages and suites it’s the lighthouse we’re most intrigued by!
Welcome to the sprawling Sebasco Harbor Resort in beautiful Phippsburg!
It was originally built in 1909 when it operated as the Rock Gardens Inn. In 1928 it officially became the Sebasco Lodge until 1997 when the property changed hands to become what it is today.
In addition to the water views (of which, there are many!) the grounds themselves are impeccable. Full of gardens and landscaping this is a beautiful place to enjoy the peaceful surroundings of Maine.
And there's plenty to do here, from the saltwater pool to the Quarterdeck Recreation Center that features candlepin bowling to the spa and water activities.
While there are other overnight lighthouse stays in Maine, most of these require that you book the entire place. This is expensive and difficult if you don't have enough people to share it with.
There are ten different guest rooms, including rooms with double, queen, and king-sized beds. And the third floor is an Observatory. While the lighthouse was built in 1945 without any intentions of it ever guiding ships to port, a stay here is about as Maine as it gets!

In addition to the smell of ocean water in the air on rainy days in Portland, she loves puppies, photography, funny people, the Maine Red Claws, traveling, fresh tomatoes, Cambodia and filling out forms.
