9 Incredible Supermarkets In Maine You’ve Probably Never Heard Of But Need To Visit
Head to any touristy town in Maine and you’ll find doodads, beebobs and t-shirts galore. Great if you’re hoping to head home with souvenirs for the folks you left behind, but a bit less useful for those Mainers who spend the entire year in Vacationland. Shopping for these folks means exciting things like…eggs, bread and maybe milk. If that’s you, check out these local supermarkets in Maine and support your neighbors!
1. The Good Life, Raymond
This tiny shop is packed with more than you'd expect for its size. Along with shelves of wine, cheese and crackers, there's an incredible prepared foods area where you'll be tempted to bring home containers full of homemade salads, soups and maybe even a few pies!
1297 Roosevelt Trail, Raymond / (207) 655-1196
2. Tobey's Grocery, South China
You'll find just about everything you need here! From a fuel fill-up to enjoying a sandwich from the deli in the dining area, you won't even remember the name of the big guys after a trip to Tobey's!
1408 Route 3, South China / (207) 993-2596
3. Spice & Grain, Fryeburg
Spice & Grain has a little bit of everything. From organic goods to wine and even fresh local fruit, those who are mindful about what they eat will love this small find in Fryeburg!
17 Portland Street, Fryeburg / (207) 347-1703
4. Graves Shop n Save, Presque Isle
You might recognize Graves from your early days in Maine! Another shop with a great meat department, this family owned and operated store takes pride in their old-fashioned traditional butcher area! Their affiliation with Hannaford's means great prices, too.
797 Main Street, Presque Isle / (207) 769-2181
5. Whitney's Market, Corinth & Guilford
This locally owned and operated market has been serving the Corinth and Guilford area for nearly 15 years! Known for an incredible meat department, along with all the other things you'd find in the big chains, a trip to Whitney's will let you stock up while allowing you to catch up with your neighbors along the way!
689 Main Street, Corinth / (207) 285-7500
54 Water Street, Guilford / (207) 876-2282
6. Rosemont Market and Bakery, Portland, Yarmouth, Cape Elizabeth
Rosemont Market and Bakery began back in 2005, created by Scott Anderson and John Naylor who met while working together at Portland Greengrocer for ten years. Originally, there was just one location on Brighton Avenue with a whopping five employees! But today, nearly 75 people call Rosemont their work home.

7. Tozier's Family Market, Searsport, Brewer, and Bucksport
In addition to all the things you need to keep your Maine home running smoothly, you'll also find one of the most important things to make sure to have on-hand: homemade whoopie pies! Get your meat, veggies and amazing baked goods at one of their three locations.
22 East Main Street, Searsport / (207) 548-6220
483 South Main Street, Brewer / (207) 989-7340
127 Main Street, Bucksport / (207) 469-2753
8. Micucci's, Portland
If you're looking for a special kind of grocery store, this is it! Around since 1951, this store is packed full of a well-curated list of Italian goodness. We just couldn't bear to leave it off the list. In addition to goods you can bring home to cook your own perfect meal, there's also a wonderful deli counter for something on the go.
45 India Street, Portland / (207) 775-1854
9. Ameera Bread, Portland
Perhaps less grocery store than amazing take out place, Ameera deserves a place on this list. The hole-in-the-wall spot on Forest Avenue used to be known as "Tandoor." While they've changed their name, they haven't changed the fact that the bread is the best you'll find in Maine. Owned by an Iraqi immigrant family, they've been churning out traditional foods to Portland residents for years. Sources say they have the best falafel in town!
845 Forest Avenue, Portland / 207-871-0655
