Family-Owned Since The 1940s, Step Back In Time At Micucci Grocery In Maine

Micucci Grocery in Portland, Maine, offers a rich history and delicious Italian food, including their famous Sicilian slab pizza.

We love the history of Maine, but we love it even more when it involves food. When looking for restaurants with history, you might imagine trying to find old homes with fancy white table cloth restaurants inside. There are certainly a lot of those (here's one to check out), but there are a lot of other ways to enjoy Maine's food history. Including the spot we're. talking about today!

Welcome to Micucci Grocery located in Portland. While they carry a ton of things, don't let the name confuse you. They're so much more than a grocery store.

Most importantly, they've been around since 1946! The market was created by Leo and Iris Micucci and generations of the family have run the business ever since. Today you'll find Anna and Rick Micucci at the helm.

If you love cooking Italian food, you'll find plenty of imports here to make sure your meal is authentic.

And there's an impressive wine selection to pair with your perfect creation.

But, let's be real for a second, the reason we come here at least once a week is for the Sicilian slab.

Created with a family recipe dating back to the start of the market, you won't find a tastier slice anywhere.

There are a variety of options on offer, but we love the pepperoni.

And they're huge. Check out this hand for some perspective.

Come with friends and enjoy while you're there or take home a pie to enjoy at home.

To go beyond pizza, check out the larger menu. You'll definitely find something worth trying!

And, be sure to grab a dessert from their daily pastries.

Micucci's Grocery Store is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. You can learn more about them on their website or by following them on Facebook.

There's more where that came from. This Maine bakery has been around for 70 years! Check it out the next time you're in Portland.
