This Historic Warehouse Restaurant In Louisiana Is Truly One-Of-A-Kind

The Steamboat Warehouse might just be the most unique restaurant in Louisiana. Located in the town of Washington, this delightful hidden gem has been around in 1977, but the building it is housed within is much older.

Nestled along the banks of Bayou Courtableau (formerly the Opelousas River), construction of the building was completed in 1823. It served as a major hub for transporting manufactured goods down the river until trains became the preferred method of transportation.

Of the original seven warehouses that operated on the bayou, the Steamboat Warehouse is the only one still standing - but it wasn’t without a major labor of love to keep it that way.

In 1977, the warehouse was restored to its original glory, and it now serves some of the most incredible cuisine in St. Landry Parish.

From the moment you walk in, you'll feel like you're taking a step back in time. The rustic atmosphere gives off nostalgic and welcoming vibes, perfect for a casual evening with friends.

The menu features an assortment of dishes that will please just about everyone. From tuna steaks to ribeyes, they do it all.

Of course, you’ll find several Louisiana staples like seafood platters, oysters, and soft-shell crabs on the menu, as well as several unique dishes that you won’t be able to find anywhere else.
