The One Pristine Inland Beach In Louisiana That Will Make You Swear You’re On The Coast
North Beach in Lake Charles is the only white-sand inland beach from Texas to Florida, offering a perfect spot for summer activities.
There are a handful of Louisiana state parks that have beaches that are just the ticket for cooling down on a hot summer day. Fontainebleau State Park, Lake Claiborne State Park, and Cypremort Point State Park are a few of the most popular, just to name a few. North Beach in Lake Charles is a lesser-known beach in Louisiana, but locals know it’s the place to be when that summer.
It’s easy to spot North Beach in Lake Charles from I-10.
Surprisingly, it’s the only white-sand inland beach from Texas to Florida!
The beach is open daily from 10 a.m. - 8 p.m. year-round.
There’s parking nearby, making the trip from the car to the beach super easy.
Unlike the beaches you'll find in Louisiana's state parks, North Beach in Lake Charles has very little shade, so you may want to bring a beach umbrella.
As you can see from the photo above, there are a few trees to give some shade, but an extra beach umbrella will make all the difference in the world.
Spend the day building sand castles, splashing in the water, or enjoying a game of beach volleyball.
You'll want to bring your own ball if you plan on starting a game!
If you need a break from the heat, the Lake Charles Visitor Center is right next door.
There are also many restaurants nearby, and we'd highly recommend Steamboat Bill's. It's one of the best seafood restaurants in the state.
Outside the Visitor Center, you can take a walk around and enjoy the landscaped gardens.
Don't forget to snag a selfie with the iconic Gumbeaux Gator, a larger-than-life topiary shaped like an alligator.
If you stick around until sunset, you're in for a treat.
Pull up some sand, sit back, and enjoy the show!
If you love this beach, you'll love both Holly Beach and Rutherford Beach, two Gulf Coast beaches in Louisiana.
