There are endless amazing restaurants in New Orleans, no doubt about it. But there are also endless amazing restaurants just outside of New Orleans, and they are absolutely worth the pilgrimage. Next time you’re feeling adventurous, drive out to one of the incredible restaurants where you’re sure to have a memorable experience.

While Kenner isn’t incredibly far from New Orleans, it does take a little bit of an effort to get over there, and American Pie Diner is certainly worth the effort. Nestled over in Covington, this historic plantation-turned-b&b also has a restaurant filled with mouthwatering Creole-French inspired dishes that will dazzle your tastebuds. 71518 Chestnut St., Covington, LA 70433.
Head on down to Marrero to experience some fine Creole and Cajun cuisine in a bayou setting. The outdoor patio is an absolute must if the weather permits, and the alligator stuffed mushrooms will dazzle your tastebuds. 7163 Barataria Blvd, Crown Point, Louisiana 70072.
Mosca’s has been a favorite for over 60 years, serving some of the most delicious Italian cuisine you’ll ever eat outside of Italy. Known for their family-style platters and their signature Oysters Mosca dish, you can’t go wrong with a dinner at Mosca’s. 4137 US-90, Westwego, Louisiana 70094.
Rocky & Carlos has has a lock down on the Creole-Italian cuisine scene since they opened back in 1965. From po’boys to pasta, you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu, but be sure to try their legendary macaroni. Come hungry, because they’re known for their oversized portions. 613 W. Hop across the causeway to Old Mandeville where you can enjoy a meal at the always casual and comfortable Rusty Pelican. Their burgers are the stuff that dreams are made of, piled sky high with all your favorite toppings and seasoned to perfection. 500 Girod St, Mandeville, Louisiana 70448.
For boiled seafood, you have to make the journey over to Harahan and eat at Seither’s. Not only are they the masters at boiling and frying seafood, but their po’boys are legendary. 279 Hickory Ave, Harahan, Louisiana 70123
Nestled right on the beautiful Des Allemands River, a meal from Spahr’s should be on everyone’s bucket list.
