Charity Hospital is located in 1532 Tulane Ave.

The hospital was founded in 1736 as a hospital for the indigent in New Orleans.

Many different buildings were used for hospital over the years. The building pictured here was built in 1939.

At the time, it was the second largest hospital in the entire nation.

Over 2,600 beds were inside of this hospital.

Unique art deco architectural details make this building such a unique treasure.

It's become one of the most iconic aspects of what is present in New Orleans.

Charity Hospital remained in operation until Hurricane Katrina.
