We are a few days into August, and summer is coming to a close. There’s still time to check out one of these amazing Iowa resorts before summer’s end, though. Go ahead. Take one last long weekend away to enjoy the Iowa sun.

1. Bridges Bay Resort, 630 Linden Dr., Arnolds Park
At this East Lake Okoboji resort, you can choose from condos, cabins, and hotel rooms. There are five amazing on-site restaurants and a swim-up bar, here. Sail on the SkyRyder Zipline at 110 feet, visit the Boji Splash indoor waterpark, or enjoy the on-site private fishing pond.
2. Grand Harbor Resort and Waterpark, 350 Bell St.
Technically this shoreline resort is on the river, but there's plenty of fun waiting at this amazing Mississippi River-themed water park. The resort offers guest rooms that overlook the river or historic downtown Dubuque. Enjoy more river views at the on-site Tony Roma's Restaurant and Lounge.
3. White Rock Conservancy, 1436 Hwy 141, Coon Rapids
This isn't a typical bustling resort, and it's also on a river. Quiet time is easy to find here. Stay in the historic Garst Farmhouse or rend a country cottage with a full kitchen. A remote 3-season cabin on the Middle Raccoon River banks or low-impact camping are other options, here. The eight-mile Raccoon River water trail offers a scenic float trip with some of the most beautiful views in Iowa.

4. Arrowwood Resort and Conference Center, 1405 US-71, Okoboji
Between the Iowa Great Lakes and the incredible 27-hole Brooks National Golf Club, this Okoboji resort has boating, swimming, and paddling opportunities. The on-site Minerva's Restaurant and Bar is an excellent choice for any meal.
5. Fillenwarth Beach Resort, 87 Lake Shore Dr., Arnolds Park
Cruise aboard a 49-foot custom-built cruiser on West Lake Okoboji as part of your resort experience, here. You'll have free access to the resort's towboats, paddleboats, canoes, and sailboats, as well. Lodging options include penthouses, studios, cottages, apartments, duplexes, and lakefront chateaus.
6. Lakeside Hotel Casino, 777 Casino Dr., Osceola
Many of the hotel rooms here feature amphitheater and lakefront views. The outdoor theater comes alive in the summer with musical performances. This grown-up escape offers a heaven for gamers. Stop by the Heartland Cafe and Buffet, connected to the casino, for a memorable meal.
7. Honey Creek Resort, 12633 Resort Dr., Moravia,
Lake Rathbun has 11,000 acres of water and is a great place for your final summer celebration. Rent jet skis, kayaks, pontoons, or a motorboat. The resort's beach is a beautiful place to soak up the sun. Use the bikes and helmets and explore the trails the go through Honey Creek State Park. Buccaneer Bay Indoor Water Park is a great way to keep kids happy.
8. West Oaks Resort, 25 Lake Shore Dr., Arnolds Park
Just steps from Arnolds Park, downtown bars, restaurants, and Queen's Court Shopping, this Okoboji resort offers lakeside condos with incredible views of Okoboji sunsets. Condos have a full kitchen and jacuzzi tub.
9. King's Pointe Waterpark Resort, 1520 E Lakeshore Dr., Storm Lake
There are over 100 rooms here, many of which offer a view of Storm Lake. Sunset Pointe Cottages have everything you need for a truly relaxing stay. There's an indoor and outdoor waterpark here, a beach and park, and a lighthouse with views of the lake.
10. South Shore Inn, 1603 S Shore Dr., Clear Lake
This is the only resort on the shores of the lake. All guests enjoy lakefront views. A private dock offers boating and fishing. The Landing Patio Bar and Grill is a waterfront restaurant with live music on Friday nights.
