Ever since it opened its doors in the 1960s, the original Stanley Museum of Art in Iowa City was considered by many to be the best art museum in Iowa. However, its original University of Iowa home was destroyed by a flood in 2008, although virtually all the art was safely evacuated. The impressive collection of classic, modern, and global art had to make do in guest facilities – until now. The new Stanley Museum of Art will be opening its doors in a new state-of-the-art facility on August 26th, 2022 – and the many people responsible can’t wait to see you at the grand opening!
