Autumn weekends are made for outdoor fun. Around here, these are the final days that the weather will be nice enough for outside activities, and this fall farm is one you should not miss. Check out vegetable gardens, animals, and historic structures at this unique farm.
There’s more to this little-known farm than meets the eye. Keep scrolling for all the reasons why you definitely want to visit this wonderful place.
Soulful Prairies in Woodstock is an 80-acre farm that most people have little clue exists. Regardless, it takes huge steps to promote sustainable farming and preservation of natural Illinois wetlands and prairies.
The farm was once used as an orchard and petting zoo and then sat abandoned for many years before being bought by its current owners in 2009.
Visitors from all around stop by anytime of year to partake in adventures on the farm. Most come for the horses, but, especially during fall, you'll stay for the fresh produce and beautiful grounds.
This incredible place also houses bee hives as well as birds, turtles, donkeys, dogs, and more critters. You're bound to make a friend to two at this fall farm.
Locals love this place for its Grow and Share program, which is a community garden open to individuals or groups who may utilize a plot of land for growing produce as long as 20 percent is donated to charity.
Volunteers may also contribute to a larger project called the Market Garden, maintaining a wealth of different plants in a group effort.
This country oasis is also the perfect event venue, great for rustic weddings. It also hosts its own events throughout the year, like spiritual groups, women's groups, exercise experiences, and more.
One of the top attractions is the equine therapy-like service. It involves horse care training and may also utilize yoga with horses, meditation, and other holistic, healing activities. Team building and corporate retreats are available in addition to individual sessions.
Perfect for school field trips, this is a wonderful experience for Illinoisans of any age. The farm teaches how to care for the planet in a sustainable manner while promoting fundraising, gardening, and the preservation of nature.
