This Off-The-Beaten-Path Campground In Idaho Is The Perfect Place To Escape

There is nothing quite like spending time in Idaho’s mountains. While we love exploring the Sawtooth Mountains and all of its remarkable destinations, the Seven Devils Mountains also deserve their chance to shine. The Seven Devils Mountains feature incredible peaks in west central Idaho and some pretty unforgettable hiking trails. But, these mountains are also home to Seven Devils Campground, an off-the-beaten-path campground that is the perfect place to escape.
Seven Devils Campground may quickly become one of your favorite camping spots in Idaho. It is beautiful, near a gorgeous lake, and is a small campground so it's much easier to find peace and quiet and escape from reality for some time.
But, to reach this campground, it is not that easy. Seven Devils Campground is off the beaten path. You will find this campground approximately 17 miles on a dirt road that is steep and narrow. Low-clearance vehicles, RVs, and trailers are not recommended at this camping spot.
This campground is located just off Forest Road 517. Once you reach 517B intersection, turn left and travel approximately 0.3 miles until the campground entrance. Be aware that Forest Road 517 can be slippery when wet or frozen.

This is more of a primitive campground, making it perfect for an escape. There are 10 tent campsites in the campground and the sites are based on a first-come, first-serve basis.
However, you can easily find some time by yourself when you stay at the Seven Devils Campground. Here, the trees surrounding each campsite make you feel far away from reality. And, as you make the long drive, it is easy to leave all of your troubles behind.
While you can spend time at your campsite, I strongly recommend making the short walk to Seven Devils Lake. Here, you will not only find the most picture-perfect views but there are also great fishing opportunities as well.
Seven Devils Campground typically opens in late June. The closest town is Riggins, Idaho, which is approximately 18 miles away so you will want to come prepared with all of your camping supplies before you arrive.
You may have to put in a little effort, but your visit to Seven Devils Campground is one that you will not forget. It’s off-the-beaten path but the journey is well worth the destination.
