It’s common to see communities all around Idaho celebrating the holidays in their own special way. However, there’s only one town in the Gem State that’s actually earned the nickname of “Christmas City, USA!” Rupert is a quaint town in Minidoka County that seems pretty quiet, but it takes on an entirely new character as the holidays roll around. Not only does it get all dressed up in lights, but community events and attractions are abundant during this time of year. Check it out:

It's true; Christmas City, USA is right here in Idaho! The quiet town of Rupert is proving that sometimes it's the smallest towns that boast the loudest holiday spirit.
Once again, Rupert is going all out for the holiday season this year. The Rupert Christmas Festival is a month-long extravaganza that boasts all of your favorite holiday events, from an epic Christmas tree lighting to the delightfully quirky Beet Drop on New Year's Eve.
The festivities will kick off at Rupert City Square on November 27 with the annual Christmas Tree Lighting. Paired with a Chili Feed, guests can enjoy hot food and hot cocoa/coffee while waiting for Santa to arrive to turn on the lights. Fireworks and ice skating will follow the lighting, which takes place at 7:00 p.m.
Another beloved event to check out is the Christmas City Market. Taking place November 27-28 and December 4-5, visitors can shop around with over 25 local vendors, including many local artists and makers. This is a great way to get your Christmas shopping done while also supporting the community!
If you love a good nativity scene, be sure to check out the drive-through live nativity at Grace Church from December 3-4. The Historic Wilson Theatre will also put on a holiday-themed show on December 4-5, titled "A Year Without A Santa Claus."
