The Cedar Street Bridge, located in downtown Sandpoint, is not only a bridge over Sand Creek, but it is also a one-of-a-kind marketplace with restaurants, boutique shops, local artisans, and more.
The Cedar Street Bridge was built before the 1930s as an auto and pedestrian bridge. It was designed to connect Sandpoint’s downtown area to the train depot on the east bank of Sand Creek.
However, by the late 1970s, the bridge was quite damaged and no longer in use. Fortunately, in the early 1980s, Scott Glickenhaus, a local entrepreneur, had the idea to transform the bridge into a public gathering space. While the project certainly had its ups and downs, today, the bridge is home to shops, restaurants, and more.
