Munchable, dippable, snackable… it doesn’t get much more “Idaho” than fries! We’ve shown you where to get some of the state’s best burgers, but what about the sides? Whether you’re a fan of crispy, waffle, or loaded, here are 10 awesome places with perfect french fries.
We’re aware that these uncertain times are limiting many aspects of life as we all practice social and physical distancing. While we’re continuing to feature destinations that make our state wonderful, we don’t expect or encourage you to go check them out immediately. We believe that supporting local attractions is important now more than ever and we hope our articles inspire your future adventures! And on that note, please nominate your favorite local business that could use some love right now:
1. West Side Yard, Victor
When it comes to fries, sometimes the most unexpected locations know how to really dish them up! Choose from multiple sauces (garlic aioli and roasted red pepper aioli), different taters (yam fries, anyone?), or even try them as poutine.
Address: 31 W Center St. Victor, ID 83455
2. Brakeman American Grill, Victor
From one of the best burger joints in the state comes equally awesome fries, served up in massive portions. Fresh cut, slivered, crispy, and well seasoned, these potato gems have been called a work of art all on their own.
Address: 27 N Main St. Victor, ID 83455
3. Power House, Hailey
This local favorite has earned a reputation for consistently fantastic neighborhood-style cuisine, and the fries are no exception. Try the hand-cut parmesan truffle or garlic parmesan fries, but know that these crispy delicacies are delicious whether plain or seasoned.
Address: 411 N Main St. Hailey, ID 83333
4. Boise Fry Co., Boise
We can't have a fry list without mentioning the Idaho startup that put our sliced and diced spuds on the map! And here, the number of fry options is in the stratosphere: choose your potato, the cut, the salt, and your dipping sauce. Then, each potato is fried in natural, GMO-free sunflower seed oil and left unsalted so diners can create their own masterpiece. Our favorite? The spicy fry sauce, which has just enough smoky kick to remind you that mayo and ketchup aren't exclusive.
Address: 204 N Capitol Blvd, Boise, ID 83702 (multiple locations)
5. Juniper, Boise
It's a challenge to choose a favorite dish at this downtown staple, but whatever you order, a side of rosemary fries or garlic-herb fries might just rival your main meal. Shoestring cut and served with housemade ketchup makes for a delicious, unforgettable appetizer.
Address: 211 N 8th St. Boise, ID 83702
6. Lefty's, Ketchum
Casual and delicious, Lefty's is known for all things fried and delicious.. especially their famous Monkey Fries. Slightly spicy, crispy, and mind-blowing, you'll be coming back time and time again just for a plate!

7. Rivelle's Riverfront Grill, Coeur d'Alene
So good they should be illegal, Rivelle's latest addition to their new menu is a heavenly side option of beer battered fries, served with roasted garlic white truffle aioli -- absolutely to-die-for if you're a potato lover!
Address: 2360 N Old Mill Lp. Coeur d'Alene, ID 83814
8. Brick 29 Bistro, Nampa
This hidden gem in Nampa is treasured for its loyal to local focus, and quality is apparent in every bite of their handcut fries. Try a plate of the cheesy fondue fries, and you won't regret a single bite.

9. TJ's Pizzeria and Grill, Driggs
In the world of underrated pizzerias and small town gems, TJ's Grill and Pizzeria is an unexpectedly delicious surprise... and even more so that this pizza joint would serve up wickedly fantastic fries alongside their pies. Thin, fresh, cut to order seasoned fries are the perfectly browned side of your dreams.

10. Stevo's, Heyburn
Tucked away in the tiny town of Heyburn, this unassuming hidden gem is a gold mine of all things spud-related... fries included! But what makes the difference is that these beauties are grown by the owner himself, fresh-cut, and come in two varieties: regular or steak. Salty with great potato flavor, the fries are cut with the skins on, not too crispy, and served with two different types of fry sauce for your dipping pleasure.
Address: 290 S 600 W, Heyburn, ID 83336
