If you’re looking for something extra spectacular to see, this tree tunnel in Hawaii fits the bill! Located on the beautiful island of Kauai, this stunning natural landscape is a joy to drive through. If you’re on the South Shore of Kauai, make this incredible drive your first stop!
There’s a stunning grove of eucalyptus trees on the South Shore of Kauai, and it's definitely a must-see.
Lining the road all the way to Old Koloa, this beautiful drive will make you feel like you’re in a magical wonderful.
The tree tunnel is approximately one mile long, and it’s quick to drive through, although it leaves a lasting impression.
This particular tree tunnel has been in existence for over 100 years. It started when Pineapple Baron Walter McBryde gifted 500 eucalyptus trees to the community of Kauai’s South Shore.
Called “A Grand Gateway,” the trees stand at an impressive 100 feet high.
The branches connect above, forming a natural canopy. It provides lovely shade and natural beauty for all those that travel beneath them.
It looks like it belongs in a fairy tale.
Kids love this drive for the magic it holds. If you want to pull over to take pictures, make sure you park far away from blind turns, to keep everyone safe.
The road is kept beautiful by local volunteers.
Please keep their work easy, and don’t litter. A good rule of thumb is to leave everything as you found it, for the next group of people to enjoy!
You’ll find the road when you head towards Poipu Beach and Koloa Town.
To get to this tree tunnel, turn off on Maluhia Road (Hwy. 520) and head south. It’s one of the most famous scenic drives on the island.
This stunning drive is such a wonderful one to take all year long.
