There’s A Surf Park And World’s Largest Standing Wave Pool Coming To West Oahu
When you think of surfing, it would be impossible not to think of Hawaii. And Oahu is considered the “surfing capital of the world.” So it’s no surprise to see West Oahu’s Ewa Beach debuting a new surf park and the world’s largest standing wave pool. This is one epic spot that you’re not going to want to miss, so keep your eyes peeled for the news of its grand opening!
Hawaii’s history of surfing is an important one.
Surfing was originally called wave sliding, and it had a lot of societal and spiritual meaning to the people. Today, Haleiwa and Oahu's North Shore are called the "Surfing Capital of the World."
Now there’s going to be a new way to surf on Oahu’s West Side.
Haseko has begun building a 100ft wide man-made surf park, right outside Hoakalei Resort, that will serve as the centerpiece of Wai Kai Lagoon.
This wave technology is straight out of Germany and features a breaking wave, not a barrel.
The wave height can be adjusted from 2 - 6.5ft, and you can change the wave to be ridden by just one surfer, or use the “party wave” function, where many people can surf together.
The park will offer waves for all skill levels, from beginner to expert.
They’ll also offer bodysurfing and bodyboarding options. The wave generated is said to be the widest stationary wave in the world.
The surf park expects to also boast 200,000 square feet of retail space.
VIDEO It will include seven restaurants, 100+ commercial tenants, and a health club and spa. This surf park and massive wave pool will blow you away!
The water park will be a part of Hoakalei Resort.
The resort currently features four residential neighborhoods, and with the nearby Hoakalei Golf Course and Country Club, this entire area will be filled with fun. Hoakalei’s 52-acre Wai Kai recreational lagoon will be a premier destination.
This beautiful spot is going to be the perfect place for a wonderful surf park and wave pool.
Expect to see the doors open sometime in 2022. This will be an adventure you won’t want to miss!
