The Outstanding Restaurant In Georgia That Is Known For A Single Menu Item
Some restaurants specialize in just one item. Others may have really broad menus that contain a variety of foods, but they have one particular menu item that’s so good that ends up overshadowing everything else. One restaurant in Georgia that falls into that latter category is the beloved Spanky’s. This spot has several locations throughout the Savannah area, and don’t get us wrong: they have a delicious menu that’s filled with tasty items. But their chicken tenders are the true star of the show and shine so brightly that everything else can sometimes fall by the wayside.
This Savannah institution has been around for what feels like forever. It's been family-owned and operated since 1976 and now has a few locations in the Savannah area, including downtown and on Tybee Island.
Don't read the title and get us wrong: Spanky's has a diverse menu! You'll find excellent hamburgers here, and the spuds (deep-fried potato slices) are to die for.
They've been on the menu since the start, and while the history is a little fuzzy, it's likely this was one of the first restaurants in the country to serve chicken fingers. The recipe here was developed when it was discovered that the chicken for the chicken sandwich was too long for the bread. An enterprising chef chopped off the ends, fried them, and voila! The chicken fingers that we know and love were born.
Whether you're here for the chicken fingers, spuds, burgers, pizza, or something else, you're sure to have a delightful experience at Spanky's.
