For some, this means a smorgasbord of Halloween candy and all of the most frightful movies all month long. We’ve mapped out some of the scariest, most historically haunted spots in Savannah, Georgia that you can tackle in one day of fun. We’re kicking off this spooky walking tour in Savannah with a historic spot known as Madison Square. As one of Savannah’s most picturesque of the 22 squares, many people don’t know this one has a haunted history. Many have said that Madison Square, named after the fourth president of the United States is a hotbed for paranormal activity. Many soldiers were have said to have lost their lives during the Siege of Savannah and were thrown into mass graves here. Are you brave enough to walk this area at night?

2. Sorrel-Weed House

The next stop on this creepy walking tour is the old Sorrel Weed House. Many ghost hunters and paranormal enthusiasts have claimed to feel panicked, nauseous, and like they couldn’t breathe in certain areas of this house, especially in the basement. The Sorrel Weed House even made the list for "The Most Haunted Places in America" from USA Today and Wall Street Journal. Some even say it’s the most haunted building in Savannah.

3. 17 Hundred 90 Inn & Restaurant

Feeling peckish? Let’s stop for a bite to eat along this tour at the famed haunted hotspot known as the 17 Hundred 90 Inn & Restaurant. Many guests staying in the inn have reported ghost sightings, including the most famous of all, Anna. As the legend goes, Anna was a bride of an arranged marriage who fell in love with a sailor in the 1800s. It was said that Anna threw herself to her own death from the third floor of the inn just as the sails of her lover’s ship left her sight. Another ghost to look out for is Thaddeus, who is often seen in the restaurant and tavern leaving pennies everywhere.

The Marshall House is the next stop and this working hotel might have the most fascinating history of all. Used as a hospital three separate times, during the Civil War and for yellow fever epidemics, many people passed in this hotel and were said to have never left. Hotel guests have reported hearing children running down the hall in the middle of the night, or faucets and lights turning on and off by themselves.

5. The Olde Pink House

Originally built in 1771 for one of the founding families in Savannah, The Olde Pink House has retained much of its charm throughout the years. However, it also has a bit of a haunted history, too. While many patrons frequent this spot to dine in the elegant restaurant, guests have seen ghostly figures haunting the halls, late at night. Even more peculiar, the ghost is the original owner James Habersham, Jr.

6. The Pirates’ House

Not only is The Pirates’ House in Savannah the perfect place to score a delightful southern meal, but it is also the perfect place to snag some haunted history, too. Dating back to 1753, this is the oldest standing building in the state of Georgia. While it’s been a gathering place for sailors since the beginning, there have been so many ghost sightings over the years, everyone has lost track. Both guests and staff have reported seeing ghosts and shadows, plus hearting footsteps and boots scraping the floor when no one is around.

This haunted brewery even offers ghost tours for anyone looking to get in-depth in their paranormal hunt. The building was used as a hospital many times for yellow fever outbreaks, in which hundreds of people were estimated to have died. With patrons seeing their fair share of ghosts over the years, it’s no wonder this brewery is one of the most haunted places in Savannah.
