But at Hand Fire Pizza in Jackson, WY, local history is the heart and soul of every dining experience. Wyoming's history is alive and well in every corner of the state, but sadly, old-fashioned theaters are a rarity even here. But fortunately for travelers, residents, and pizza-chasing enthusiasts, the bustling community of Jackson is still home to one such iconic gem … it just happens to house a one-of-a-kind pizzeria.

The historic, one-screen Teton Theater opened in 1941 and screened everything from "It's a Wonderful Life" and early Disney classics to "Sunset Boulevard," "Psycho," and everything in between. It's last showing was in 2012, where it then sat empty, just waiting for its time to shine once more.

And shine it did! In 2017 after a complete renovation, this historic theater reopened as Hand Fire Pizza, with the goal of creating a place for the community to gather, eat, drink, and be merry.

In addition to modern neon lighting, exposed wood beams, and a touch of rustic-glam, a number of historic details were kept, like the lighted marquee outside. In fact, a casual passerby might not even realize the delicious surprises that await inside!

The original ticketing booth, artwork, high beams, and balcony were all kept and restored to their former glory.

What was once the main screen is now home to two massive pizza ovens.

Diners will be treated to some of the best wood-fired pizza in Wyoming, straight out of these behemoth ovens.

Fun fact: even some of Hand Fire's signature pizza toppings are fired in these bad boys too — like the house meatballs.

Every pie is handmade and topped with as many organic and locally sourced ingredients as possible.

Delicate, lightly garlic-oiled crusts for the base are covered with delicious toppings like herbed ricotta, brisket, caramelized onions, local goat cheese, cilantro, and spicy honey.

The options are endless! Try the Love You Elote while you're here. This fan-favorite comes piled high with all of your favorite Mexican-inspired ingredients: chicken, roasted corn, queso fresco, micro cilantro, and a healthy dose of BBQ.

Feeling something completely unexpected and totally "Wyoming?" Try the Bison of a Gun pizza topped with local bison chili, peppers and onion, mozzarella, cheddar, scallions, and sour cream. You can also try the Chorizo con Papas on for size.
