Uh Oh… Wisconsin Has More Drunken Cities Than Anywhere Else In The Nation

By now we've come to accept that most people from out-of-town only know our state because it's considered to be America's Dairyland. And while we've long been associated with cheesy greatness, there's a recent report that's given Wisconsin a new and not-so-fabulous accolade that may have more heads turning. A new list has shown that the Badger State has more drunken cities than anywhere else in our country. Yikes!

According to data put together by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and University of Wisconsin Population of Health Institute, our state has more drunken cities than anywhere else in America.

Out of the list's top ten locations, seven of them were filled by Wisconsin cities with a total of twelve cities making their overall top twenty.

Detailed research that took many things into consideration, the data looked at residents who either binge drink with four to five drinks per week and those who drink heavily by consuming fifteen or more drinks per week in over 380 metro locations.

At first glance you may assume that this research was only focused on our state with how many Wisconsin locations can be seen on the list, but there's one particular city that managed to take the top spot.

Considered to be the drunkest city in our country with the 9th highest concentration of bars, nearly 27% of residents in the city of Appleton claim to drink excessively.

Seen making the top spot on the list, Appleton residents had a total of 26.8% of residents that claimed to drink too much. The research also specifically pointed out other data for each city, like Appleton's staggering 30.3% of driving deaths that involved alcohol. The list also pointed out that for every ten thousand residents there are 4.4 drinking establishments, making it America's ninth highest concentration of bars.

Wondering what other cities in Wisconsin followed Appleton? You'll also see the following locations listed in the research that can be fully seen here:

Oshkosh-Neenah

Green Bay

Madison
