The Texas Peanut Butter Soft Serve At This West Virginia Restaurant Is So Good That It Sells Out Every Time
Moe Fatz in Franklin, West Virginia, offers a variety of delicious ice cream flavors and treats, making it a perfect stop for travelers.
"I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream." This childhood jingle perfectly captures a much more refined sentiment: on a hot day, there's nothing quite like a big, cold helping of this iconic sweet treat! And what better place to find that big, cold helping of ice cream than in beautiful, small town West Virginia?
In the small West Virginia town of Franklin, the sun can shine very brightly. The weather can grow very warm.
One such bright, warm day late in a recent week, my family and I found ourselves in search of some ice cream. And we found some!
Welcome to Moe Fatz, otherwise known as Tammy's Sweet Treats, a colorful (think bright pink) little soft serve ice cream and shake shop in Franklin, West Virginia.
With three staple flavors each week (chocolate, vanilla, and a custom flavor) available in a cup or cone plus over a dozen specialty flavors available in a cup only, not to mention shakes, sundaes, wraps, drinks, and more, this iconic little restaurant is the perfect stop for hungry (or thirsty or hot or weary) travelers.
Since that's exactly what we were, we stopped in for a bite and learned an interesting tidbit: when Texas Peanut Butter is the flavor of the day in the soft-serve machine, it sells out EVERY TIME. It's that good! So we tried it, along with Bubblegum and Coconut.
The verdict was unanimous: all (including the Texas Peanut Butter) were excellent, and we'll be back soon for more!
Maybe next time we'll branch out a bit and try something off the lunch menu.
Maybe we'll upgrade from a small cup of soft serve to a shake or a banana split ... so many delicious possibilities!
