In August of 2024, America's Best Restaurants stopped by a local West Virginia eatery, wanting to spotlight an independently owned authentic Mexican restaurant by the name of Jalapeños. The restaurant was purchased in 2014 by Erick Hernandez, a man with no industry experience but a goal of bringing his customer service experience to the community over one of his great passions: delicious food. Hernandez had experience working for his father at an auto parts store in Guatemala, so people skills came naturally. His parents helped brainstorm the name of the restaurant, and nearly a decade later, the kitchen is a beloved part of the area.

Jalapeños offers a wide array of Mexican cuisine, and just about everything comes highly recommended. Their chips are served hot and crunchy with a refreshing salsa, the perfect introduction to a delicious entree. As for specials, you'll want to try the Birria pizza, steak Cuernavaca (a sizzling ribeye served with skillet grilled onions and mushrooms), or the footlong Burrito El Rey. No matter what you order, prepare for it to come out of the kitchen sizzling. As one reviewer noted, your food will be "practically still cooking" upon delivery.
