The School House Winery In Washington That’s Just As Charming As It Sounds

When you think of Washington wine country, Walla Walla or the Yakima Valley might come to mind. But the truth is, you'll find vineyards in almost every part of our great state, including our islands. The San Juan Vineyard in Friday Harbor is a must-see for all wine lovers.

San Juan Vineyard is currently the only operating winery producing estate grown wines.

The address is 3136 Roche Harbor Rd. in Friday Harbor.

The highlight of the property is the remodeled school house, which dates all the way back to 1895.

These days, it serves as the tasting room.

The historic white chapel is from the turn of the 20th century, and it adds even more historic charm.

It also happens to be the perfect spot for a small wedding.

When you taste, you can sip from a lineup of award-winning wines like estate-grown Siegerrebe and Madeleine Angevine.

The Afterglow Rosé is especially delightful in the summer.

The vineyard was founded in 1996. Current owners Michael and Lauri Corliss took it over in 2018.

Michael and Lauri own wineries and vineyards in Eastern Washington, and thy've done a wonderful job of keeping the winemaking process consistent.

On a warm day, nothing beats enjoying a glass of wine on the tasting room's patio.

This is definitely a destination winery, and you'll love it.

Tasting room hours vary based on the season.

It's currently open Friday - Monday from 11 - 5.
