This Pirate Themed Tiki Bar In Washington Is All You Need This Summer

Some people hop flights to tropical islands in the summertime and spend afternoons sipping fruity drinks at swim-up bars -- and then there's the rest of us. But don't despair if you don't have any exotic summer plans this year. Not only is Washington an especially amazing place to be from Memorial Day to Labor Day, but we also have a high-end tiki bar in Tacoma that will make you feel like you're in the Caribbean... or, at the very least, will help you relax and unwind.

Devil's Reef is located in Tacoma's Opera Alley, where it has been since its early 2018 opening.

The bar is owned by Jason Alexander and Robyn Murphy, who also own another rum bar in Tacoma called Tacoma Cabana.

The interior is darker than you might expect from such a place, and it's also ornate and surprisingly refined.

There's nothing kitschy or cheesy about this place.

The bar itself looks straight out of a pirate's den, right down to the enormous rum selection.

The rum list is extensive, and if you're not familiar with it, the bartender will help you find your new favorite.

The drinks are deliciously tropical, and there are over 50 of them on the menu.

Despite their sometimes fruity taste, the drinks here are known for being quite strong...

... but luckily, you'll have plenty of tasty bar snacks to help absorb the rum.

From chips and guac to nachos and spring rolls, you'll find what you're craving on the menu.

Devil's Reef is open Wednesday through Saturday from 5 p.m. to 12 a.m.
