It's officially ice cream season here in Washington, and for that we are thankful. And last fall, a delicious new ice cream shop joined the list of places to get a cone in the Tri Cities. But Amethyst Creamery is much more than an ice cream shop -- as the name implies, you'll find some sparkling gems sitting next to your cup of Chocolate Peanut Butter Swirl.
Amethyst Creamery is located near the entrance of Richland’s Howard Amon Park.
The shop took over a former office space.
Step inside and you'll be tempted to head straight to the ice cream counter... and you should.
The shop has 28 ice cream flavors, and they're all fantastic.
Amethyst Creamery is especially unique because it always has plenty of vegan ice cream options on the menu.
Of the 28 flavors, at least eight are dairy-free.
You'll notice a few classic flavors on the list, like chocolate -- but be prepared to get creative with your ice cream order.
From Blueberry Waffle Cone to Caramel Collision, there's something for everyone here.
And, as the name implies, Amethyst Creamery also sells beautiful gems, crystals, and minerals.
The shop's owner, Doug Tallman, is a self-described rock hound who once owned a rock shop in Sun River, Oregon.
If you're wondering whether the combination of selling ice cream and gemstones works, the answer is a resounding yes.
You'll find gems and minerals from all over the world, like amethyst crystals from Brazil and minerals from Morocco and India.
This one-of-a-kind creamery and gist shop is open daily from 10 a.m. - 7 p.m., or 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
Get your ice cream fix, do a little shopping, and leave with something sparkly.
