The Giant Novelty Drinks Are So Strong At Utah’s At El Chihuahua Restaurant That They’ll Only Sell You Two

We just can't get enough Mexican food here in the Beehive State, and we certainly have plenty of great Mexican restaurants to choose from. If you like to pair your enchiladas with a tasty margarita or cerveza, you can usually find a spot with a cantina, but this restaurant takes it a step further. Have you tried a Death Star?

For tasty Mexican food and massive drinks, head to El Chihuahua Restaurant in Salt Lake City. It's a family-owned place that's been around since 1978.

Step inside this colorful dining room, and you'll feel the festive atmosphere immediately. If you're going on a weekend night, plan to wait awhile for a table. The restaurant has tons of seating, so the wait is never too long, and it's well worth it.

The delicious dishes are flavorful, and created with Quinonez Family recipes. The portions are generous, so come with an appetite.

Entrees come with your choice of rice and beans or the restaurant's signature side dish: zucchini with cheese. It's a rich, decadent way to get your serving of veggies in for the day.

If you'd like to pair your Mexican food with a tasty drink, try a Death Star. It might sound like a galactic space station, but it's actually a sweet, alcohol-filled bowl of punch.

There are two kinds of Death Stars: regular and duckie. The regular ones are made with Rothchild vodka, Everclear, and 151 rum.

Duckie Death Stars are the same as the regular drinks, but they also have a Bud Rita or Wicked mixed in as well, and they come with a miniature ducky bobbing and floating amongst the ice.

The colorful Death Stars come in about 20 different flavors, and almost as many colors. Whether you're looking for a mango flavor, a strawberry-banana-orange, or a simple gin or vodka tonic, you'll find it on the menu.

These drinks come in a huge punch bowl, and they're full of alcohol, so you might want to share one with your dining partner.

It could take you a year to work your way through the entire Death Star menu, but it might be a worthy pursuit to try them all.

Because these drinks are so big and so full of alcohol, El Chihuahua can only sell you two, and we highly recommend calling Lyft or Uber or having a designated driver if you choose to imbibe.

You can also order any Death Star "LDS-Style," without the alcohol. The punch-only versions are called Little Death Stars, and they're just as festive and tasty.
