The Most Scrumptious BBQ In Nashville Is Hiding Inside This Underrated Eatery

When it comes to barbecue in Nashville, it seems like you can throw a rock from anywhere in the city and hit an eatery that claims it has the best barbecue in the city. But that's obviously not true of everyone. There is one spot just outside of the city in Gallatin where it just might be true, though. Top Hog BBQ had long been lauded as one of the best-kept secrets of locals, serving some of the best barbecue in the area. As if that wasn't enough, they also have the best catfish around, meaning this is absolutely the spot to go if you want the best.

It's hard to find a ton of photographs of Top Hog BBQ, but we sure did look far and wide so we could feature this fabulous diamond in the rough.

Top Hog always seems to be busy, which is a good thing. A barbecue restaurant that isn't busy is probably a bad sign, but the folks here know that they serve up the best barbecue around.

Top Hog's original location is in Gallatin, about 45 minutes northeast of Nashville, but in July of 2018, they opened a second location in Hendersonville, which is just as busy already.

Top Hog is known for their pulled pork, but the real specialty here is the catfish. Many would say that it serves the best catfish in the Nashville area, and we aren't disputing that.

Locals also go crazy for the cheeseburgers and the hot cakes, both of which can be seen here. It's not hard to see why these are favorites.

You can visit the original Top Hog location in Gallatin at 642 Blythe, but if it's busy (it's in a neighborhood with not much parking), head on ten minutes down the road to their second location at 1845 Nashville Pike. Both locations are open from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday - Saturday.
