The Incredible Buffet in Pennsylvania With Almost as Many Desserts as Main Dishes
Shady Maple Smorgasborg is known for its savory Amish delicacies—but don't miss its all-you-can-eat dessert buffet.
Some traditions are just meant to be followed right down to every last detail. However, sometimes we just have to buck tradition—and the perfect place to do that is at this incredible buffet in Pennsylvania. How? Well, once you see the delicious spread at the all-you-can-eat dessert buffet, you just might make the bold decision to start with dessert first, and why not? So much deliciousness awaits.
Work up a hearty—really hearty—appetite before you head to Shady Maple Smorgasbord in East Earl, a popular buffet that’s brimming with classic Pennsylvania Dutch foods. Shady Maple Smorgasbord is unique in that it serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Even if you’ve been to other buffets, you’ll likely still feel your jaw drop as you get that first glimpse of this massive 200-foot buffet and all of those desserts.
If you’ve got a sweet tooth, grab a plate and make a beeline straight for the dessert buffet, where you’ll find a little bit of everything. Brownies, pies, cakes, and donuts…the choices are endless. How about a chocolate chip cookie? Dessert certainly wouldn’t be complete without a generous helping of ice cream topped with as many sprinkles as your heart desires.
Make sure you save room for some of the other deliciousness that sits on the buffet, too. Every evening features specials. Mondays, for example, include Delmonico steak, New York strip steak, fried shrimp, pork chops, and beef brisket.
Curious as to just how many foods appear on the buffet? Well, if you’re stopping by for dinner, you’ll get to choose from 46 items on the salad bar, eight homemade rolls and breads, three soups, eight meats, and 14 vegetables. That’s just the start, too.
As for the dessert buffet, which includes a sundae bar that will satisfy that throbbing sweet tooth, it boasts more than two dozen goodies—from eight pies to six cakes (and a whole lot in between).
It just might be the only place in Pennsylvania where you can try so many desserts in one place, including iconic Amish treats like Shoofly pie.
