Discover the top hiking trails in the Pacific Northwest known for their scenic views and diverse landscapes.
While Voodoo Donuts continues to grow its notoriety and long lines, another donut shop has come and conquered the donut scene in Portland. Started by two Portland restaurant phenoms behind other local favorites like Little Big Burger, Boxer Ramen and Beast, this shop has grown into several locations across the city, and has even opened locations in Los Angeles and Tokyo. The incredible donuts produced here are what keeps people coming back for more, and the creative combinations continue to turn heads and bring new donut aficionados through the door.
What started as one lone donut shop has now grown into a handful placed all around town. With locations in Southwest, Northwest, North, South Waterfront and Southeast, this donut shop has you covered no matter where you are.
Touting for quality over quantity, the shop uses all natural ingredients and bakes fresh donuts daily.
Using a classic brioche recipe originating in southern France, the donuts are less cloyingly sweet than many other local varieties, making them especially pleasing on the palate.
The shops are beautifully designed and give the ambiance of a small town pastry shop.
Like most donut shops, they also serve coffee. At Blue Star, the brew of choice is local favorite Stumptown Roasters, as well as Coava Coffee. Another local favorite, Steve Smith teas are also served.
Flavors change seasonally and there is a rotating cast of vegan donuts to choose from as well.
One of the store's slogans, Donuts for Grownups, is quite true, offering grown-up gourmet flavor combinations like Blueberry Bourbon Basil.
And then there is the Creme Brûlée with shot of Cointreau, made just for adults.
No matter where you are in town, be sure to check out one of the neighborhood Blue Star Donuts when you need a donut fix. The wonderfully designed donut flavors will instantly shine a light on why they have become so ubiquitous throughout town.
