It's always amazing when old buildings find new purpose, and even when their original roots stay tied to their new transformation. One restaurant in North Carolina continued the locomotive theme from being a train station to now a delicious restaurant, and the railroad touches are still intact.
Olde Hickory Station spent its first days as a train station. Travelers passed in and out, and today, it still stands right beside where the trains once ran. While completely renovated, the energy is still very much alive here.
Today, the former train station is home to amazing cuisine. The restaurant is independently owned and one of the best places to dine if you find yourself in Hickory. The menu changes seasonally and the dishes are a work of art.
If you're looking for something to wash down the meal - or simply to grab a drink in a historic spot - the restaurant offers over 50 beers on tap, and an amazing wine selection.
If you just want to pop in - there's also deli items and baked goods.
Dishes you must try include the cauliflower fritters, any of the burgers - especially smoked gouda,
There's also unique options like pickled beet deviled eggs with duck bacon.
During warmer days, diners love sitting on the patio and watching the trains go by...even shooting some corn hole!
Olde Hickory Station is a mix of both old and new, while completely renovated inside the exterior is still charming and rustic in its own way. It's a must stop for some great food and a great ambiance!
