In the idyllic countryside near Auburn, New York lies a garden restaurant that will delight your senses. It has its own Certified Organic Farm where it grows all of the produce for the meals and is quite literally farm-to-table all on the same site. What meat it doesn't produce is sourced from local organic and grass-fed livestock raised humanely on nearby farms. Its 100 acres have been in farming production since the 1800s and Elderberry Pond has become a picture of perfect sustainability, beauty, and culinary art.
Surrounded by gardens, farmland, and fruit-bearing trees, it is a lovely welcoming setting from the moment you arrive. It's already a lovely treat for the eyes.
The interior dining area is elegant, rustic, and simple. It is a wonderfully comfortable setting where you can tell that the focus is on quality.
On a warm, sunny day, you can sit on the patio surrounded by herb and flower gardens. The lushness of the surroundings is well complemented by the deliciousness and freshness of the food.
For a starter, the roasted garlic and brie bruschetta will whet your appetite. The butter, garlic, hint of balsamic, and crunch of the bread combine for a perfect bite. It would go great with the heirloom blend hard cider they make on-site.
This exquisite pan-seared duck breast over greens with a balsamic reduction will melt in your mouth. A side of mashed potatoes and green beans makes it everything one could want in an entrée.
Did you save room for dessert? This decadent coconut cream pie is an absolute dream. Sweet, wholesome, and a perfect finish to a delectable meal.
Among their other dishes, Elderberry Pond also has Pan-Seared Thai Shrimp, Broiled Scallops Au Vin, Mussels with Fire-Roasted Tomato Cream Sauce, and several other tantalizing options. They have seasonal and holiday menus aside from their main menu throughout the year. There is a Country Food Store on site where they sell meat and produce and several of the dishes from the restaurant.
While you're in the area, take a trip through history by visiting the home of Harriet Tubman. A wonderful day trip all around.
