New Jersey's diners don't get any better when you're looking for a trip back to simpler times. Many of these Jersey institutions have been standing for decades, with their classic exteriors still preserved, and have had many famous guests over the years. However, one newer diner may have outdone them all when it comes to retro joy. Martucci's Flashback Diner, tucked into a strip mall in Manchester Township, has turned itself into a tribute to the 1950s. This retro diner in New Jersey not only has faithfully recreated the decor of these classic restaurants, but its menu and even the attached candy shop make you feel like you just stepped into a time machine. Don't worry about messing up the timeline - just sit back and enjoy your meal!
The strip mall facade at Martucci's Flashback Cafe is easy to miss - but if you look inside, you'll definitely want to stop.
We don't know what's more eye-catching - the checkerboard floor, or all the 1950s-themed decor on the walls.
There's even a mini-jukebox on the floor when you enter, as well as some old-school vending machines.
The food is just as retro, specializing in classic diner sandwiches that have stood the test of time. And yes, it is New Jersey, so of course there's a pork roll, egg, and cheese on offer!
However, the menu doesn't stay static - daily specials include old-school delights like linguine and clams or liver and onions.
Your meal's not complete without one of Martucci's massive specialty milkshakes - keep an eye out for holiday treats!
Before you leave, stop by the small attached candy shop to pick up a selection of sweets both new and classic.
