I suspect many of you out there are like me and are not fans of large, crowded restaurants. The noise can make it hard to enjoy your meal and the time with family or friends. Smaller eateries also tend to have more interesting menu items as they aren't mass-producing dishes at scale. These locations also tend to be in local neighborhoods which adds to the sense of community. In Dover, there's one small NH restaurant that encompasses everything that a great neighborhood eatery should be.
The owners of Fat Dog Kitchen in Dover created the restaurant as a comfortable space where the neighborhood could gather and where everyone is welcome.
Fat Dog Kitchen specializes in creating comfort food with a strong emphasis on comfort. All of the dishes here will seem quite familiar.
As to why the restaurant is called Fat Dog Kitchen? Well, I will let Cash and Joon answer that question for you.
In keeping with the tradition of the name, four-legged friends are also welcome at the outside diner as long as they have good table manners.
Fat Dog Kitchen doesn't do dinner, but does do a delicious breakfast and lunch. Daily specials are posted on its Facebook page.
In addition to its small indoor space next to The Strand on Third Street, Fat Dog Kitchen also offers outdoor dining in warmer seasons.
For those with allergy sensitivities or preferences, most of the dishes on the menu can be made vegan or gluten-free. Just ask the server.
If you're in luck there may also be some tasty desserts available to top off your meal, or to simply satisfy that sweet tooth.
If you think you might enjoy this small NH restaurant, check out the Fat Dog Kitchen website for more info and to view their menus, and also follow Fat Dog Kitchen on Facebook for the latest updates.
