The craft beer scene is huge in New Hampshire these days, with new breweries popping up seemingly every day. You may not know, though, that a brewpub in New London has quietly been producing delicious beers for more than 20 years. That longevity doesn't mean they aren't modern, though - this brewery was the first in the state to go solar! Whether you visit as a special trip or stop by after a day on the ski slopes, you're sure to be happy with what you find.
The Flying Goose in New London has been in operation and run by the same family since 1993, and brewing beer since 1996. It's long been a local favorite, as well as a popular spot with skiiers visiting the local peaks.
In 2011, the Flying Goose became New Hampshire's first solar powered brewery with the installation of a solar hot water heater and a PV array. Those measures have significantly lowered the energy expenditure, and carbon footprint, of the brewpub operation.
The Flying Goose brews 20-30 beers a year, and offers 17 on tap at a time, plus their own root beer.
You can get growlers of the beer to go (they don't distribute it), but it's so much fun to hang out in the brew pub that we recommend stopping in for a beer sampler and some snacks.
Or, better yet, settle in for a pint and a full meal. You're sure to love whatever you try.
What better than a kielbasa flatbread to have with a tasty brew?
Or go for an even more filling meal, like pulled pork mac and cheese. Yum!
Whatever you choose to eat and drink, it'll taste all the better with the knowledge that it was powered by the sun.
You can find the Flying Goose Brew Pub at 40 Andover Rd, New London, NH 03257.
