One Of The Best Bakeries In Montana Is Tucked Away In A Charming Village

Windmill Village Bakery in Ravalli, Montana, is renowned for its delicious donuts and beautiful setting.

It's no secret that we love our sweet treats here in Montana. After all, we are home to places like Wheat Montana. And one of our best bakeries lies not in a large, lavish building, but in a tiny village. Windmill Village Bakery is a must-see, and the donuts are to die for.

Windmill Village Bakery is located in Ravalli, a small community in Lake County.

The property is remote, but thanks to the bakery's excellent reputation, it stays busy.

Aside from having the most delicious pastries, Windmill Village Bakery is located in the most beautiful setting.

Donuts taste even more delicious with views like this. And here, you can enjoy them right on the deck.

Dave Martin and his brother built the bakery in 2004 for Dave's wife, Nancy.

Nancy is an incredibly talented baker. She set up a farm stand on their property years ago, and before she knew it, people were requesting her creations like crazy.

The bakery serves all kinds of pastries and cakes, not to mention some savory lunch items, but it's best known for its delicious donuts.

Nancy Martin uses her mother's donut recipe as a base, and to say it is popular with the locals is a huge understatement.

Last year, the community came together when Nancy was diagnosed with cancer and the bakery had to close for months.

When Nancy went into remission, she was able to re-open, and the customers flocked to show their support. On one particularly busy day, Nancy went through three bags of flour before noon. That makes 150 pounds of donuts.

Windmill Village Bakery is currently open on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Treat yourself to a cup of coffee and a dozen donuts and you'll see why this just might be the best bakery in the Treasure State.
