There’s A Tiny Hole In The Wall In Montana Called Stacey’s, And They Serve Some Of The Best Steak In The State

Bozeman is definitely one of the top cities in Montana for foodies — you'll find a little bit of everything on Main Street alone. But did you know you'll actually find some of the best steaks in the state just 12 miles away? Stacey's Old Faithful Bar & Grill is located in Gallatin Gateway, and it's an absolute treasure.

Stacey's Old Faithful Bar and Steakhouse sits in a rather unremarkable building on Mill Street in Gallatin Gateway.

The current eatery has been around since 1963, when Stacey and Phyllis Crosby bought the Old Faithful Bar from May Ping Sellards. May had been running the bar since the end of Prohibition, and Stacey and Phyllis kept things mostly the same.

Inside, you'll find a warm, welcoming, and totally laid-back space.

While the food here is top-notch, you're certainly not required to dress up to enjoy it — this is as laid back as it gets.

This isn't fast food — the kitchen here is small, and the team takes their time making sure everything is prepared correctly.

But that gives you plenty of time to play pool or talk to your friendly fellow patrons over a pitcher of beer.

Rest assured, your steak will be well worth any wait you encounter.

The menu consists of mouthwatering steaks that are served for both lunch and dinner, as well as scrumptious sandwiches and hearty half-pound burgers.

This is the kind of old-fashioned meat and potatoes place you don't see much of anymore, even in Montana.

But as beloved as Stacey's is, it's safe to say it isn't going anywhere.

The steakhouse occasionally hosts events and fundraisers, but on most days, you'll see an even mix of locals and travelers here.

The sign is easy to miss, but the tourists who manage to spot it on their way to Yellowstone are always glad they did.

Stacey's is open daily, although hours vary (and change during the busy summers).

They're currently open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to midnight, and Sunday from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m.
