The Historic Restaurant In Montana Where You Can Still Experience The Old American West

Those who have spent enough time in Montana know that life here is pretty special. A lot of that is the landscape. Forests, mountains, lakes, and rivers make the state one of the most beautiful in the country. These are things you might only find here in the American West. But, the landscape isn't the only thing that makes this state feel so quintessentially "Old West." Throughout Montana, you'll find restaurants and bars just filled with these vibes. This historic restaurant in Montana is a great example.

Old Saloon in Emigrant has been around since 1902. It was originally intended to be a stopping point for the rail line going through Paradise Valley heading towards Yellowstone National Park. This historic restaurant in Montana was located right across from the train depot.

The bar was closed in 1920 during Prohibition and did not open again until the 1960s. But, it has been just as popular as ever.

The back bar is the original bar purchased by owner, Abe. The history and American West vibes in this place are palpable!

And the views from the restaurant are undoubtedly some of the best of any restaurant in the area.

But, the menu is also diverse. Things like this creamy pesto chicken pasta are a must-try. This dish features fettuccine with creamy pesto alfredo, sauteed spinach, grape tomatoes, mushrooms, and sliced chicken breast.

And, if the menu and history aren't enough of an homage to the Old West, consider the fun live music you can catch here.

Whatever it is you love, you'll find it here every time you visit.

The Old Saloon in Emigrant is open throughout the year. For current hours, be sure to check its website. This is also a great way to learn more about the restaurant's history and to plan your meal with the online menu. You can also follow them on Facebook. The Old Saloon can be reached at 406-333-4482.

There's so much history to enjoy throughout the state, but our favorite is always in the form of great restaurants. Moose's Saloon has been around for more than half a century and it's one of the best spots in the state.
