Montana doesn't have just one iconic food - it has dozens. And that's one of the many reasons we love it. However, we can all agree that pie nears the top of the list of things Montanans crave most. So when we heard that Central Montana has an official pie trail known as Pie A La Mode, we had to do some investigating. And not only is this trail as sweet as can be, it includes both well-known spots and some hidden gems. These are a few of its most decadent "pie-lights."
1. Brooks Market & Deli (Lewistown)
Lewistown's favorite market and deli has an incredible pie selection. In addition to all the freshly made entrees you can enjoy on-site or take home, the daily pie selection often includes half a dozen options.
2. 2 K's Kafe (Great Falls)
To know 2 K's Kafe is to love 2 K's Kafe. Their pie is so outstanding, you won't be able to resist sneaking a bite or two before you snap a picture.
3. Roadhouse Diner (Great Falls)
It's tempting to fill up on the hearty burgers at Roadhouse Diner in Great Falls, but even if you have to order it to-go, you won't want to pass up the pie.
4. Wake Cup Coffee House (Fort Benton)
The name of this charming spot is a bit misleading. Wake Cup Coffee House is a full restaurant that always has an amazing selection of baked goods - especially the perfect pie.
5. Log Cain Cafe (Choteau)
At Log Cabin Cafe, the decision is never about whether or not you'll order their freshly baked pie... it's about what kind you'll have. It's impossible to go wrong with your decision, but we've heard the strawberry rhubarb and peanut butter cream are especially popular.
6. Wofler's Diner (Havre)
We've shown Wolfer's Diner a lot of love in the past for their 1950s theme and their tasty diner fare, but in case we've never mentioned this before, the pie is absolutely out of this world.
7. The Home Cafe (Conrad)
Conrad's Home Cafe has been in business since 1958, and it's a perfect place to stop on the way to or from Glacier National Park. Obviously, pie is fantastic hiking fuel.
