Montana is known for its remarkable views, hence its nickname, Big Sky Country. There are also minerals (its motto, "oro y plato," translates to gold and silver). Then there’s its outdoor recreation in places like Glacier National Park and the Bighorn Mountains. Another thing it’s known for? Huckleberries! This delicious fruit can be enjoyed baked into a pie or cake, of course. Or you can enjoy them as part of an alcoholic drink. Whitefish Handcrafted Spirits in Kalispell does this very thing.
Whitefish Handcrafted Spirits is a family-run distillery and restaurant established in 2015.
Despite its name, its location has actually been in Kalispell since 2017.
The inside sports homey decor and cozy seating at tables, couches, and at the bar.
One of the distillery's specialties is turning these locally-sourced huckleberries…
...into this liqueur.
Or into this special reserve edition.
It makes for some really delicious cocktails.
If huckleberries aren't up your alley, they do make other spirits. There's Cranberry Moon, Montana Wheat Vodka, Orange Clove Rum, and Botancial Gin, for starters.
Check out the extensive cocktail list for a drink made with one of these. Or ask your bartender for their recommendations.
Sample a few with a flight!
If you find something you like, you can even purchase a bottle.
Speaking of finding something you like, Whitefish Handcrafted Spirits also serves up amazing food.
They offer some seriously scrumptious steaks.
As well as a variety of artisan tacos.
There are also dishes that incorporate huckleberries, such as the I’m Your Huckleberry burger, which comes with huckleberry compote.
There's a great outdoor seating area here too.
Have your drink or meals al fresco on a nice day.
Whether you’re in the mood for a cocktail, mocktail, snack, meal, or all of the above, head to Whitefish Handcrafted Spirits. Check the establishment's website or Facebook page for the most-to-date information on operating hours and the menu.
