The Award-Winning Donut Bakery In Missouri That’s Known For Its Old-Fashioned Ways

Even in the 21st century, you'll find that this award-winning donut bakery in Missouri is making tasty treats just as they did when the doors opened in 1976. These pastries have a cult following and it's not hard to understand why. Try one of their freshly made donuts for yourself!

Sitting on the corner of Vandeventer Ave. near the Missouri Botanical Gardens in St. Louis is a small, no-frills donut shop called World's Fair Donuts.

Co-owner Peggy Clanton serves customers from behind the counter. All the donuts are made in the shop and and are always served fresh.

World's Fair Donuts are well loved by all. They've been featured in publications across the country, have won numerous awards, and have even been featured on the Food Network.

Surprisingly enough, the little shop has no online presence at all. You can find stellar reviews Yelp and TripAdvisor, plus there is a community created Facebook page that also highlights visitor's favorite treats but that's it.

Although everything here is delicious, some of the most popoular items are buttermilk cake donuts, blueberry chip donuts, and the glazed fruit pies. You'll also probably want to pick-up a chocolate long john.

Deciding what you want can always be a challenge. Don't get upset if Peggy tries to hurry you along; the store can get pretty busy at times and she knows how to keep the lines moving.

Order a milk, juice, soda, or coffee and take your bag of donuts for the road. There are no tables or chairs inside the little shop, just the bakery and the donut case. Don't forget that this old-time shop is cash only. There's no ATM so be sure to make a cash run before you visit.
