Editor's Note: Oak Leaf General Store has closed. For another fun destination, visit this epic general store in Mississippi.
General stores in Mississippi often double as great restaurants. In the past, we’ve told you about a few such stores, including H.D. Gibbes and Sons. Despite its small town locale, the historic shop is famous for its steaks and seafood. It’s not the only middle-of-nowhere general store that’s found success as a restaurant, though. Oak Leaf General Store is another. And just like its predecessor, it boasts a unique setting and fantastic fare.
Oak Leaf General Store is tucked away in Ellisville, a tiny town of just a few thousand.
A gas station, convenience store, and restaurant in one, it’s a staple for locals living in the rural area.
It’s one of the only stores in the nearby vicinity, but that’s not the only reason people frequent Oak Leaf General Store.
Sure, it’s practical, but the store’s “convenience” factor is just an added perk because what really brings people to the general store is its great grub.
A full-service restaurant, Oak Leaf General Store serves up a tasty fare that includes hot-off-the-grill burgers, seafood dishes, and local favorites.
Steak is also part of the mouthwatering fare and is served on select nights.
In addition to the permanent menu, there are daily lunch specials, seasonal crawfish boils, and homemade desserts.
And just because it’s a general store, don’t assume you have to grab your food to-go.
Tables are scattered throughout the store, so you can dine right on the spot.
Any questions? You can call Oak Leaf General Store at (601) 763-3691. And don’t forget to like Oak Leaf General Store on Facebook to stay up to date on specials, hours, and more.
This isn’t the only general store in Mississippi that doubles as a great restaurant. There are quite a few, including the Simmons-Wright Company, which, in addition to being the oldest general store in Mississippi, is home to a great eatery, 1884 Café.
