This is Taylor Grocery. To locals, it's known simply as "the catfish place."

It’s located in the tiny town of Taylor, which is about 10 miles from Oxford.

And still, despite its remote locale, the eatery serves about 400 people on a nightly basis. A number that’s even more impressive when you consider Taylor’s population is about 300.

So, just what is it that attracts hoards of people to the rural eatery? Well, as you’ve probably already guessed, it’s the catfish, which is often referred to as some of the world’s best.

The pond catfish comes straight from the Delta. It’s then served just about any way you could imagine.

Choose between whole catfish or filets, which can be grilled, blackened, or fried, of course.

Loaded with as much history as good food, Taylor Grocery has operated as a country store for more than 100 years! It transforms into "the catfish place" Thursday – Sunday.

Between its increasing popularity and a dining room that seats 90 at most, Taylor Grocery tends to get pretty packed…

…and that means a wait is likely.

And don’t think about making a reservation. At Taylor Grocery, everyone – regardless of title or connections - waits.
