From the moment you set eyes on Gil’s, it’s pretty clear that it fits the bill as far as dive bars are concerned.

Like any quintessential dive bar, it boasts a laidback vibe…inside and out.

Of course, its beach-hut feel and location on Fort Bayou don’t hurt.

But a relaxed vibe isn’t the only thing that makes Gil’s worthy of being deemed the state’s best dive bar.

There’s also the cheap booze, which is especially affordable during happy hour.

Aside from the prices, it’s the variety of beverages that are sure to impress. In addition to cold beer and spirits, Gil’s serves up refreshing Bushwackers.
