When a restaurant has been around for as long as Mary Mahoney's has, you know it's going to be good. When you find out that several presidents have dined here, as well as countless celebrities, well, it's just time to gas up the car and check out this historic restaurant.
Nestled snugly underneath century-old oak trees, Mary Mahoney’s has been serving up some of the most prominent patrons in the country for over 50 years.
The restaurant opened in 1964, but the building is much older.
The New Orleans-style building was constructed in 1737 originally as a home, making it one of the oldest buildings in Biloxi. It has survived countless hurricanes, and still stands strong!
While many generations of locals come back again and again, it’s also a place where presidents have dined.
The walls of the dining rooms are peppered with framed photos of the restaurant’s most prominent patrons over the years. Telegrams from President Kennedy and Reagan are two of the most fascinating finds on the wall, but pop stars have walked through the doors as well!
From Cher to Usher, several celebrities and even some world-renowned chefs find the time in their busy schedules to swing by Mary Mahoney’s.
And once you crack open the menu, you’ll see why.
Be sure to start the meal off with one of the signature dishes like crab claws or charbroiled oysters.
The gumbo is a fan favorite, and it's been the same recipe ever since Mary Mahoney opened the doors!
A meal this special deserves to end on a sweet note, so carve out some space for dessert.
So what do you say...table for two?
