Mississippi offers so much for visitors to see, do, and experience. And in the city of Biloxi, there are some great opportunities to make a memorable day trip. Located along Beach Boulevard is the statuesque Biloxi Lighthouse. Erected in 1848, it was one of the first cast-iron lighthouses in the South. Start your hike across the street at the Biloxi Visitors Center. Then, make your way to this historic landmark.
Once you reach the lighthouse, get ready for a spiral climb of 57 stairs. Don't forget your water as this hike can be exhausting.
At the top of the lighthouse, take in the stunning views of surrounding Biloxi. The signature landmark sustained damage during Hurricane Katrina, but now symbolizes the city’s resolve and resilience.
After descending the lighthouse, be sure to walk out to the end of Lighthouse Pier.
With your hike behind you, next up is hopping aboard the Biloxi Tour Train, which is lovingly known as the "Shrimp Train." The departure location is right at the Lighthouse, so you are already right where you need to be.
