Enjoy An Old-Fashioned Speakeasy Expereince At The Guest Room, An Underground Bar In Mississippi
The Guest Room in Starkville is a hidden speakeasy-style bar known for its unique atmosphere and hand-crafted cocktails.
Not all bars are created equal, and if you need proof, just visit The Guest Room in Starkville. The one-of-a-kind eatery is like a speakeasy from decades past – complete with an obscure underground locale. Take a look:
The Guest Room is one of those places that you’re not just going to stumble across. You have to know what you’re looking for – and that’s because it’s located underneath Restaurant Tyler in Starkville.
There’s no sign or any other indication of The Guest Room’s existence. The entrance is just as secretive - accessing the bar requires heading into the alley behind Restaurant Tyler, through a door, and down a short flight of stairs.
The Guest Room has been named one of the best hidden bars in US by Men’s Journal. But despite its obscure locale, it tends to get pretty crowded. If it’s at maximum occupancy when you arrive, you won’t be allowed in, so be prepared for a wait.
But when you do make it inside, you’re sure to agree it was well worth the wait. From the lighting to the décor, The Guest Room is reminiscent of speakeasies from decades ago.
Roomy booths, hardwood floors, and a copper bar, only add to the old-fashioned vibe, while the absence of loud music and numerous TVs is sure to be appreciated.
And just like speakeasies of the past, The Guest Room’s staff is sharply dressed, donning ties and bowties.
There’s more to love about The Guest Room than the atmosphere, though. There are also the hand-crafted cocktails.
And since The Guest Room prides itself on signature spirits and fresh mixers, the drink selection is sure to impress.
But beverages aren’t all you’ll find on the menu. The fare also includes a few food options, like charcuterie boards and other appetizers.
The Guest Room is open five days a week. Visit Tuesday – Wednesday 4:30 p.m. – 12 a.m. and Thursday – Saturday 4:30 p.m. – 1 a.m. For more information, call (662) 324-1014. You can also visit The Guest Room Facebook page.
