This Mississippi Dining Experience Has Been Called One of the Best Restaurants in the U.S.

The Enid Depot won the award for the best steaks in Mississippi in 2025. Swing by and find out why!

While most foodies can certainly find some tasty options in major cities, I always seek out the restaurant scene in small towns. That’s where you’ll find some of the best food in the state. Take Enid, for example. This small town in Mississippi flies under the radar for most travelers, but it’s home to one of the best steakhouses in Mississippi. Next time you find yourself in Tallahatchie County, carve out some time to visit The Enid Depot.

Like so many towns across the country, the railroad played a significant role in the town’s popularity. When the railroad ran through Enid in the 1850s, the town thrived and eventually established a post office, schools, and businesses. When the railways changed, the town changed with it. It’s a story that many railroad towns share, a story of ebb and flow. Today, Enid remains an unincorporated community, a sleepy little village that’s holding onto a big secret—The Enid Depot.

The Enid Depot is a locally owned and operated restaurant in Mississippi that recently won one of the state’s most prestigious awards—the best steaks in Mississippi. The restaurant is housed in a former mercantile store that dates back to 1907, right in the shadows of the original train depot.

Owner and chef Brent Tippitt, a Hernando native, studied at Le Cordon Bleu culinary school in Las Vegas and has logged countless hours as a corporate chef in 5-star restaurants. When he took over The Enid Depot in 2022, he got straight to work and began creating the foundation for what would become the best place to get a steak in Mississippi.

The secret to The Enid Depot’s success is its simple menu. Chef Tippitt’s goal is to become as farm-to-table as possible. The menu changes often, depending on what’s in season, what's growing in the garden, and what inspires the Chef.

While the menu may change, you can always count on some delicious steaks to grace the menu. Chef Tippitt does a phenomenal job at crafting a little bit of everything on the menu—a fish option, a steak option, salads, desserts, etc.

The Enid Depot’s Facebook page is where you’ll find the most up-to-date information. The team is always posting what’s on the menu, what’s coming up, and some behind-the-scenes things, too.

The carefully curated menu, from salads to desserts, is sure to win you over. The restaurant is open for dinner from Wednesday through Sunday, and recommendations are required. Call 662-623-9485 to make your reservation. For more information, visit The Enid Depot website and be sure to follow The Enid Depot on Facebook so you can stay up to date on the latest culinary creations coming out of the kitchen.

While you’re in the area, consider paying a visit to Enid Lake. George P. Cossar State Park is only 12 miles away, and it’s a nice way to add some waterfront scenery to your day!
