We all know that Minneapolis and St. Paul are typically the go-to spots for great dining experiences in Minnesota. But what about parts of the state far outside of the Twin Cities? It turns out, they're full of great dining too. From BBQ to tacos to small-town diners, Greater Minnesota is a treasure trove of good eats. That goes double for steakhouses. One that I think is a candidate for the very best steakhouse in Minnesota is located far north of the Twin Cities, in Park Rapids, on the doorstep of Itasca State Park. It's worth the extra effort to find, so gas up the car and take off on a food adventure that will leave you happy and full.

Y Steak House is located at 19134 Highway 71 in Park Rapids, Minnesota. Being in Lake Country, Y Steak House has a rural feel that you just won't find within the confines of a major city.

The exterior has a charming, woodsy vibe that will make you feel right at home. It's located on the Fish Hook River (which lends its name to the steakhouse's bar).

The inside is also comfortable and welcoming, with friendly staff and warm furnishings.

The menu is full of great options, from shrimp to chicken to burgers, there's something for everyone.

While you’re in South Bloomington, we suggest visiting Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge and going for a stroll along the river. There’s a major trailhead where Cedar Avenue crosses the Minnesota River, just a few minutes from Luna di Luna. The wildlife refuge’s headquarters is also in Bloomington. It's just a little farther from the restaurant - between Mall of America and Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport. There, you’ll find an interpretive center, a gift shop, and a regular schedule of ranger programs. It’s a great place to spend a day working up your appetite before a pasta dinner.
