The Restaurant In Minnesota Where Every Meal Is A Chef’s Surprise
Demi in Minneapolis offers a unique, chef-curated tasting menu in an intimate setting.
In 2019, James Beard Award-winning Chef Gavin Kaysen opened a tasting menu restaurant in Minnesota where guests enjoy a multi-course meal in an intimate setting. At Demi, in Minneapolis, every meal is the chef’s choice - to the surprise and delight of diners.
Demi is located in the Warehouse District of Minneapolis, not far from Kaysen’s flagship restaurant, Spoon and Stable.
The restaurant is an intimate setting designed to offer its guests a complete dining experience. You can choose to start with an aperitif.
Then, you can enjoy your drink as you take your seat at the counter…
where you can watch the chefs work on your meal for the evening.
Every meal is a surprise and often involves a new twist on a classic flavor.
Venison pastrami, for example.
You may also see familiar dishes in an inspired preparation, such as seared foie gras, with chestnut soup, lentil, and pear.
The courses are often playful, such as these eggs in a nest.
But they are always delicious, whether savory or sweet, like this cider donut with poached apples, apple caramel, sunchoke ice cream, and other seasonal and whimsical touches.
Several pairing options are available, including the Demi wine pairing, a reserve wine pairing, and the “temperance pairing,” in which courses are served with a variety of chef-concocted, alcohol-free beverages.
Don't worry, if you are unable to finish a course, Demi's staff will box it up for you to take home. Given its limited size and ever-changing menu, reservations, as you may imagine, can be difficult to come by. They are released monthly for the following month and tend to be snapped up quickly. Visit the restaurant's website for more information on available pairings or to make reservations.
Before dinner, take a stroll in nearby Mill Ruins Park to work up your appetite.
