While we can't complain about the winter in Maine, we have to admit that the promise of summer is what's been on our mind these days. Spring has brought snow, rain and fog, which isn't exactly unexpected. But, when warmer weather is this close these chilly temps can make it seem like summer will never arrive. But, we have some good news! Summer is close enough that we've begun looking for some of the best seafood takeout shacks to tell you about! And once that happens, we can consider warmer days just around the corner. So, while you get through the last of the fog and cold weather, plan a trip to this tiny takeout spot! It just might make summer come early.
Erica's Seafood in Harpswell is named after the daughter of Tom Butler & Andrea Hunter. Together, they've made this tiny seafood shack thrive since 2011.
The business started as a retail lobster location in 2009, right on the wharf that was constructed in 2003.
Today, you'll find the same quintessential Maine lobster business that's been here for nearly 20 years!
The menu is straightforward, but full of options! Look at all these variations on lobster that are available.
And with a large eating area in front of the shack, you'll often find people from all over the country digging into a classic Maine meal.
Even cloudy days see a full house!
And why not?! With lobster this fresh, it's hard to justify going to a restaurant further inland.
In addition to fresh lobster, you'll also find the fried clams and scallops you've come to expect in New England.
And everything is served exactly as it should be at a takeout spot like this - in a cardboard box to soak up the goodness!
Stick around for a roll.
And then spend hour gazing out over the water.
Erica's Seafood is located at 505 Basin Point Rd., Harpswell, Maine. They're open every day from through Monday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Learn more about them through their website or on Facebook. Or, give them a call on 207-833-7354.
